The Fighter Community

The Spanish Air Force (Ejercito del Aire, EdA) is carrying out a Dissimilar Air Combat Training (DACT) Exercise at Gando Air Base, Canary Islands , from feb the 1st to feb the 12th. Fighters from all the combat units of the EdA will take part, Mirage F-1 from Ala 14, EF-18 Hornet from Alas 12, 15 and 46, Eurofighter Typhoon from Ala 11, plus United States Air Force (USAF) F- 15C Eagle from 493rd Fighter Squadron. The exercise will also include the participation of an E-3 Sentry from NATO Component, and the Search and Rescue coverage will be assigned to the 802 Squadron. I will be uploading videos covering this important exercise in the coming days and weeks.

“AIR SHOW SOLOS” is the title of a new DVD that is available from December 2009. The DVD includes a selection of some of the world best Air Show Solo Display Teams, that fly some of the most advanced airplanes. In the December's issue we have contributed to Revista Aeronáutica y Astronáutica with an article about the Spanish Air Force Wing 46. The artivcle have an exclusive interview with Major Esteban, Comander on 462 Fighter Squadron, which operates EF-18A+ HORNET.

Revista Aeronáutica y Astronáutica is the official magazine of the Spanish Air Force (Ejercito del Aire (EdA)). In the October's issue we have contributed to this magazine for the firs time with an article about the Royal International Air Tattoo 2009. We really hope this is going to be the first of a long list of collaborations with this great magazine.

Farnborough International Air Show is a world class aerial event. During a week, most of the world aerospace & technological eterprises meet there to show their latest developments and to try to sell their products. The Spanish Air Force Solo Display Tema from Ala 12 plus one tactical transport C-295 from Ala 35 took part in the Royal Internatioanl Air Tattoo 2009. The following video is a summary of the Spanish particiaption in this fantastic Air Show, including the full low show of the EF-18M. It can also be seen on the Spanish Air Force web site.

The Armee de'l Air (French Air Force) Mirage 2000 Solo Display Team was disbanded this year, being replaced by the Rafale Team. There is no doubt, that the Mirage 2000 display has been one of the best and most spectacular demos through the years, and it will be missed. This video is my personal farewell.

A very interesting display carried out by a Boeing 747-400 of OasishOngKong, the goal of the participation of the 747s in airshows through UK in the summer of 2007 was comerzialising this low cost company.
